All written reports (Analysis Plan and Final Report) must follow these formatting requirements to maintain consistency and professionalism.
Font and Spacing Requirements
Font Selection
Use Times New Roman or Computer Modern (LaTeX default) font to ensure proper support for mathematical notation and Greek letters
Font Size
12pt font size throughout (including headers, which can be distinguished via bolding or italicizing)
Line Spacing
Single-spaced text throughout the document
Margins
1-inch margins on all sides
Paragraph Spacing
No extra space after paragraphs
Header Formatting
Headers should be 12pt bold or 12pt italic with no extra space before or after
Layout Options
Single Column (Recommended)
Standard single-column layout works well for most reports
Two Column (Advanced)
You may use a LaTeX two-column template, but it should have a very small gutter between columns
(For Final Reports: the Summary section should span both columns in one-column format)
Document Requirements
File Format
All reports must be submitted as PDF files
Academic Style
Write as an academic paper. Your intended audience is academic researchers, not business executives. Use formal academic writing style with proper citations and scholarly tone
Citations
Use APA-style citations throughout, with DOIs whenever possible
Consistency is Key
Following these formatting requirements ensures your reports look professional and are easy to read. Consistent formatting also helps graders focus on your content rather than being distracted by formatting issues.
